League Rules Clarified
from Nate Suganuma
Some people believe that if a Courtesy Runner when entering the game
touches the orange portion of first base before touching the white bag
he/she is out. This is incorrect; the Courtesy Runner is in the game when
he/she touches the base, regardless if it is the orange portion of first base.
Once the Courtesy Runner is in the game he/she must be touching the
white base prior to the next pitch. Please refer to 2011 Hawai’i State Senior
Softball Rules & Regulations, Page 8, Section 2, a – i, and Official Senior
Softball USA Rulebook, Page 62 – 63, 8.4 Courtesy Runners.
If you like that rule, you may also like page 57 & 58 in the Official Senior
Softball USA Rulebook, 8.3 “After Getting A Hit”, it makes for good reading.
